Legion Services for Veterans and their families
The Legion provides a range of services and supports for Veterans, their families and dependents. In addition to directly assisting Veterans and their families with the disability claims process through Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), the Legion offers a variety of programs, resources and referrals to support Veteran health, transition to civilian life, financial assistance and well-being.
Service Officer
The Service Officer is available to advise and assist Legion members, Veterans, widows, ex-service personnel and/or their dependents in their communities. You need not be a member of the Legion to use these services.
The Service Officer can be called upon to respond to a variety of questions and situations. Most Chairman are familiar with Veterans Affairs benefits, and are also aware of other Federal, Provincial and Municipal programs which exist and might be appropriate.
All information and questions brought to the Branch Service officer are held in the strictest confidence.

Poppy Trust Fund
The Poppy Campaign is organized and run by local Legion volunteers. Through your donations to the Annual Legion Poppy Fund Campaign, the Legion provides financial assistance and support to Veterans, including Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, and their families who are in need.
Poppy Funds are held in trust at every level of the Legion and the use of these trust funds are strictly controlled.

Benevolent Fund
The Benevolent Fund committee has been created for the purpose of providing emergency financial help to members of our community in time of need.

2610 RCAC Cadet Corps Support
The Sheet Harbour Royal Canadian Legion has a long and valued partnership with Cadets Canada. The Cadets Program fosters youth leadership, citizenship, volunteerism and promotes Canadian and military values.
Cadets volunteer help the Legion with the Poppy campaign, support our Veterans and take active roles in commemorative ceremonies across Canada. These young men and women play a vital role in supporting Legion activities and promoting Remembrance.

RCL Courcelette Branch 58 Bursary Program
The Royal Canadian Legion Courcelette Branch 58 has bursaries available to graduating students of DMHS who meet the criteria. The students must be DIRECT descendants of a member of the Canadian Forces, RCMP, Merchant Navy or Canadian Coast Guard. Students who have had Service in the Cadet Program my also apply.
Bursary applications must includes the student’s relationship and as much information about their descendant. Cadets must also provide the Branch with any information about their Cadet Service.
Applications are available at the School and must be submitted no later than early May.

Legion Halls and Kitchen Facilities Rental
The halls and kitchen are available for rent for private functions, parties and events such as meetings, weddings, birthdays, dances, fundraisers etc.

HRM Warming,Comfort, Evacuation Station
The Halifax Regional Municipality has designated the Sheet Harbour Royal Canadian Legion location as a Emergency Center.
Depending on the degree of emergency declared by HRM, daily we will provide hot drinks, light lunch, potable water to take home, charging areas for electronics and if under Evacuation order, sleeping areas.
